Speed limit · privacy
Effective [date]. Speed limit is a game made for kids and their families.
For kids 🚗
- We never ask for your last name, your email, where you live, or a photo.
- Your name and your races stay on your own tablet or phone.
- Friends can only join your route if you share its code with them.
- There's no chat, and no ads.
Who we are
Speed limit is run by SaiFI Consulting LLC, [mailing address], Texas, USA. Questions or requests: saiful@saificonsulting.com, [phone].
The short version for parents
- No accounts, no sign-up, and we don't ask for any contact details.
- A player types a first name or nickname (letters only, up to 12) so friends know who's who. It is kept on the device. During a race it's shown to the other players in that route, and it is never saved on our servers.
- Each route has a code that stops working after 24 hours. Then everything about that route is deleted.
- We count events (like "a race finished") to keep the game running well, but never who did them.
- No advertising, no tracking across other sites or apps, no selling or sharing of information, and no chat.
What's kept on the device
In the browser's own storage on that tablet or phone. We can't see it:
- The name and avatar the player picked, and settings (sound, view).
- My races: the last 20 results (date, trip, score, place, and the other drivers' names).
- Routes joined in the last 24 hours, so a friend's code doesn't have to be typed again.
- A random crew key, if the device was paired with other family devices.
To remove it: My races → Clear my races, My crew → Leave this crew, or clear the site's data in the browser's settings.
What our servers handle, and for how long
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Players' first names, avatars and scores in a route | To run the race between the players in it | Only in memory, held with each player's live connection. Never written to storage, and gone when they disconnect |
| A route's code, its end time, a random ID for the device that started it, and its crew (a random ID) | So friends can join, and only the starter can change the code or take a player out | Until the code expires (24 hours), then deleted |
| Which routes a crew has open: route IDs in storage; route names (like "Emma's route") only in memory | So family devices see each other's routes | While the route is open |
| A one-time pairing code | To add a device to a crew | Until it's used, or 10 minutes |
| Counts of events (routes started, races finished, players joining, codes revoked…). Only the kind of event: no names, IDs, codes or addresses | To see how the game is used and spot problems | About 3 months |
Like every website, our hosting provider sees the device's internet (IP) address to deliver the game, and uses it briefly to limit repeated attempts (for example, someone guessing route codes). We don't store it.
Playing without the internet
With Play without internet and Join a friend's game, tablets talk directly to each other on the same Wi-Fi or hotspot. Nothing goes through our servers.
Service providers
- Cloudflare hosts the game and runs its servers, and provides the anonymous counts. [Link to Cloudflare's privacy policy.]
- While the game is in private testing, only invited family members can open it. They sign in with a one-time code sent to their email, which Cloudflare handles.
Children under 13
Speed limit is designed for children. We don't require children to give any personal information to play. We don't collect last names, contact details, photos, voice, location or chats. The first name typed in is used only to show players to each other during a race, and isn't stored on our servers. [Legal review: confirm this approach under COPPA (16 CFR Part 312) and Texas's SCOPE Act.]
Parents' choices
- Everything about your child that lasts is on your own device, so you can see and delete it there at any time (see above).
- Your child can leave any route, and the person who started a route can take a player out.
- Questions, or want something removed? Email saiful@saificonsulting.com. We'll reply within [N] days.
Changes
If this changes, we'll update this page and its date. If we ever wanted to collect more about children, we'd ask parents first.
